Old Code, New Life Proposition
« on: April 04, 2017, 03:06:52 AM »
Hey folks, Dark here again. Now, what I bring to the table isn't a game, but rather something that can be made into a game. I present to you, in the loving memory of a WG game I think we all know and love, the public source code for Fatty Text Adventure!

Now, some things about this. FIRST OFF! Yes, Noone did release this publicly, and I'm not trying to steal anything of his work. In fact, that's his direct google drive link. I'm just sharing my discovery.
Second, he stated that we would not be allowed to re-create the game, so that's a no-go.
Now, with those rules, we've got a basic code base to work with, and I think, if we can crack the coding shell, we could breath new life into this, with a system of Fatty Text Adventure, in a whole new way! Waddya say people? Shall we give this a go?
Working on my own RPG game! Though, it might not have WG content, I still wish to show it off. PM me your thoughts!

Snowdew, The Eternal Frost! (V0.2.5)

(If that doesn't suit your tastes, maybe this will?

I don't really know flash, but it looks like it at least includes a few bits of sample code. The big problem is that it's Flash - it's a resource hog and Flash Builder is part of Adobe's god-awful software subscription system.

I actually don't remember noone ever releasing this publicly, to be honest. I remember some other guy on FA using part of the engine for his game, I think, but that's about it. Either way, trying to joint-work a project like this is going to be slow going and likely not a really fruitful effort. It'd probably be best if you learned the scripting yourself and created your own game, perhaps soliciting ideas from others.

Noone did release these files publicly a while ago, but it's just like you said - adobe and flash are subscription based and there's nothing we can do about it. I'd love to fiddle with the game, but I can't find a proper editor and compiler (compiler being the issue). I've tried flash develop, but it's only on the editing side (and the files are a bit of a hassle to dig through on their own).
Stay frosty.

In case anybody is still concerned this code might be "leaked", here's Noone's journal entry where he posts it:
